Delete Your ScamSense Data

Complete guide to removing your scam detection data and account

Critical Security Notice

Deleting your ScamSense data is permanent and irreversible. This will remove all scam detection history, saved content, and security analysis results. You will lose access to personalized protection features.

What Data Will Be Deleted

  • • Saved suspicious content
  • • Personal threat intelligence

Data That Remains (Anonymized)

Important: Security Intelligence Preservation

To maintain the effectiveness of ScamSense for all users and protect the broader community, certain anonymized data may be retained:

  • • Scam patterns and threat signatures (with all personal information removed)
  • • Anonymized fraud indicators used for AI training
  • • Aggregated security statistics (no individual identification possible)

This anonymized data cannot be linked back to your identity and helps protect future users from scams.

Export Your Security Data (Recommended)

Download Your Protection History

Before deleting your account, we recommend downloading your security data for personal records:

To export your data:

  1. 1. Open ScamSense app
  2. 2. Go to Settings → Privacy & Data
  3. 3. Tap "Export My Data"
  4. 4. Choose what to include (scan history, saved items, etc.)
  5. 5. Select format (PDF report or JSON data)
  6. 6. Download the secure export file

How to Request Data Deletion

Method 1: In-App Deletion

  1. 1. Open the ScamSense app
  2. 2. Navigate to Settings → Privacy & Data
  3. 3. Scroll to "Account Management"
  4. 4. Tap "Delete My Account & Data"
  5. 5. Review what will be deleted
  6. 6. Enter your password to verify identity
  7. 7. Type "DELETE SCAMSENSE" to confirm
  8. 8. Tap "Permanently Delete Account"

Method 2: Email Request

If you cannot access the app, send a detailed email request:

Subject: ScamSense Data Deletion Request

Required information:

  • • Full name on the account
  • • Email address used for ScamSense
  • • Phone number (if provided during registration)
  • • Last 4 digits of payment method (if subscribed)
  • • Reason for deletion (optional)
  • • Confirmation: "I request complete deletion of my ScamSense account and all personal data"

What Happens After Deletion

  • • ✓ Your account will be permanently deactivated
  • • ✓ All personal scam detection data will be deleted
  • • ✓ Your subscription will be cancelled immediately
  • • ✓ You will receive email confirmation of complete deletion
  • • ✓ Any saved suspicious content will be permanently removed
  • • ✗ You will lose access to personalized scam protection
  • • ✗ Historical scan results cannot be recovered
  • • ✗ No refund for unused subscription time

Alternative: Temporary Account Suspension

Consider Suspension Instead

If you're unsure about permanent deletion, you can temporarily suspend your account:

  • • Suspend for 30, 90, or 180 days
  • • Keep your data safe during suspension
  • • Reactivate anytime during suspension period
  • • Automatic permanent deletion after suspension expires (optional)

Legal Compliance Data

In accordance with legal requirements, we may retain certain transaction and billing records for tax and regulatory compliance purposes. This data is limited to basic account information and will be deleted after the legally required retention period (typically 3-7 years).
